TUIK April Housing Sales Statistics Announced
During the month of April, 95,863 houses were sold in Turkey
Housing sales across Turkey increased by 124.1% in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 95,863. In house sales, Istanbul had the highest share with 19,260 house sales and 20.1%. According to the number of sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 9,126 house sales and a 9.5% share, İzmir with 5,505 house sales and 5.7% share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Ardahan with 9 houses, Hakkari with 13 houses and Gumushane with 50 houses, respectively.
Mortgage housing sales amounted to 17,514 in April
Mortgaged house sales in Turkey in April increased by 2.5% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 17, 514. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 18.3%. Istanbul took the first place in mortgage sales with 3,769 houses and a share of 21.5%. The province with the lowest mortgaged house sales was Hakkari with 1 house.
As a result of other sales types, 78,349 houses changed hands.
Other house sales in Turkey in April increased by 204.9% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 78,349. In other housing sales, Istanbul ranked first with 15,491 sales and a share of 19.8%. The share of other sales in total house sales in Istanbul was 80.4%. Ankara ranked second with 6,867 other house sales, followed by Izmir with 4,300 house sales. The province with the lowest sales of other residences was Ardahan with 7 residences.
29,212 houses were sold for the first time in April
The number of houses sold for the first time in Turkey increased by 96.7% in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 29,212. The share of the first sale in total house sales was 30.5%. In the first sales, Istanbul had the highest share with 5,232 house sales and 17.9%, followed by Ankara with 869 house sales and Izmir with 530 house sales.
66, 651 houses changed hands in second-hand house sales
Second-hand house sales across Turkey increased by a massive 138.6% in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 66,651. In second-hand house sales, Istanbul ranked first with 14,028 house sales and a share of 21.0%. The share of second-hand sales in total in Istanbul was 72.8%. Ankara is in second place with 7,257 house sales, followed by İzmir with 3,975 house sales.
Housing sales decreased by 6.5% in the January-April period
In the January-April period, house sales decreased by 6.5% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 358,913, while mortgaged house sales decreased by 55.8% to 64,730, and other sales types increased by 23.9% to 294,183. In this period, first-time houses sold, decreased by 10.4% to 109,582, second-hand housing sales decreased by 4.7% to 249,331.
4,077 residences were sold to foreigners in April
Housing sales to foreigners increased by 416.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and became 4,077. In the housing sales to foreigners, Istanbul took the first place in April with the sales of 2,009 houses. Antalya followed with 859 house sales, Ankara with 228 house sales, Mersin with 197 house sales and Bursa with 131 house sales.
According to the nationality of the country, the most house sales were made to Iranian citizens.
In April, Iranian citizens bought 557 houses from Turkey. Citizens of Iran were followed by Iraq with 546 residences, the Russian Federation with 402 residence; citizens from Afghanistan with 229 residences and Kazakhstan with 188 residences.
